About

About Me:

My given name is James Michael Anderson but the only ones who have used it are the government and my mother when I was in trouble, to everyone else I am Jim.  I turned 78 in March of 2021 and I have been a Christian for 67 of those years.  I was married to my first (and only) wife for 50 years.  She passed away on October 21, 2014 of cancer.  We had no children.

I served in the United States Air Force for four years with three of those years in overseas assignments. Since then I have been a service dispatcher, commercial coffee route salesman, college food service director, insurance agent, pest control salesman, technician, service manager and was corporate trainer for 17 years before retiring.  I edited a company newsletter and had several articles published in a national trade magazine.

About This Blog:

Being a Christian for more than six decades does not mean that I am more knowledgeable, devout or spiritual than anyone; I’m still a sinner saved by grace.  However, I have been through more life and “stuff” as a Christian than most people.  I have a strong desire to share my experiences and insights with other generations while I have the chance.  I began sharing weekly emails with my pastors and Christian friends as the “old man in the back of the sanctuary” and they encouraged me to start this blog.  I will post fresh content every Wednesday and Sunday.  I hope you will find it worth coming back twice a week.

I pray that my writings will remind and encourage believers as well as give non-believers an honest glimpse of what living as a child of God through Jesus Christ is really like.  I will share personal experiences, use a lot of scripture references and quote people wiser than I am to bring home my points.  In the words of Peter, “My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God’s grace for you. Stand firm in this grace” (I Peter 5:12)

Note: I sometimes mention CLC (Christian Life Center) which is the non-denominational, multicultural church to which I belong.  You can find out more about Christian Life Center at www.clc.tv.  Sunday services are all streamed live so if you watch the noon service in Tinley Park, Illinois, you can worship with me.
